Emmi Lap-Band Patient Education

What is Emmi?
Emmi is an interactive patient education series that manages the expectations of people who are scheduled for LAP-BAND® surgery. You also may share it with your family and friends who want to learn more about this procedure. This program will give you a clear sense and understanding of what to expect before, during, and after your Lap Band surgery. It will also answer many of the common questions that you may have about the benefits, risks, and complications associated with Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding.

Emmi Lap-Band Patient Education Series

Emmi will walk you through the entire LAP-BAND® surgical experience from pre-op to post-op, including risks and alternatives. And, while you are being educated, each click is recorded to create a permanent record of what you saw, heard and did while viewing the program.

If you are already a registered patient of Mary Washington Hosptial's weight loss surgery program, you may access emmi by clicking on the Emmi "Show Me" button and using your pin. You may watch the programs as many times as you like. Below is some additional informtion on each of the Emmi programs.

EmmiPrep™
EmmiPrep™, viewed before surgery, prepares patients by giving them a step-by-step explanation of their anatomy and the procedure. It educates patients on commonly known risks as well as pre-op instruct ions and recovery.

Lap-Band Surgery

EmmiSuccess™
EmmiSuccess™ is a three-part series for post-op patients: Part One covers the first four to six weeks after surgery; Part Two explains adjustments; and Part Three introduces patients to lifestyle changes they may experience with the LAP-BAND® System by providing eating and exercise guidelines and answering common questions.
