Dr. Stelmack is a bariatric and general surgeon with 26 years of surgical experience. From 2002 to 2006, his practice was limited to bariatric surgery at Barix Clinics of Ohio, where he served as President of the Medical Staff. He has performed more than 800 bariatric procedures.
In private practice in North Carolina from 1989 until 2002, Dr. Stelmack performed surgery at both Martin General Hospital and Washington County Hospital. He served as Chief of Surgery as well as Chief of Staff at Martin General Hospital.
From 1985 to 1989, Dr. Stelmack was a full time trauma surgeon, first at Nassau County Medical Center, in East Meadow, New York, and then at Brandywine Hospital and Trauma Center, in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
He has held teaching appointments at New York Medical College and New York University (1984-1985), State University of New York at Stony Brook (1985-1986) and Thomas Jefferson Medical School (1986-1989).
After receiving his undergraduate degree from Columbia College, he received his Medical degree from New York Medical College in 1980. Dr. Stelmack completed a surgical residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center, in New York City.
